The message behind this video/song is only enhanced by the fact that over 400 people have viewed this and not a soul has commented. I created an account solely to make this observation. People will comment on models being bit by snakes, 6000 of them will watch the 16 blocks clip, but no one has anything to say about Dollar Day or Mos's statement on Katrina. No one has anything to say anymore about a catastrophic event that reveals the true state of our nation - because they would rather share their two cents about Faith Hill flipping out over an award on national television. Katrina was covered on national TV too, and still should be because the aftermath is still devastating lives of our fellow citizens. I just feel like the fact that no one has had anything to say about this demonstrates our country's priorities and concerns - we obey the suggestions (or demands) of the media and our attention wans if the coverage does. We are a nation of amnesiacs, we have a 5 minute attention span and thats alright because its easier to let someone else deal with the reality of what we see on the news and flip back to American Idol. Its sad, and this song raises awareness, speaks out against the neglect and indifference - but its just subjected to the same indifference.
